Our Physicians’ Favorite Things
Maybe you’ve heard of Oprah’s Favorite Things, or perhaps the title of this month’s blog brings you back to The Sound of Music. We asked our team of physicians to share their favorite wellness tools, health habits, and personal go-to products that help them stay balanced, energized, and focused on their health goals. As an extra treat, you’ll even find some catchy lyrics at the end!
From tech gadgets and recovery tools to good old-fashioned reading time, we invite you to explore what our physicians had to say. Just a quick note: while these are our physicians’ favorite things, they may not be right for everyone. We hope you find time to relax and prioritize your health over the holidays and throughout 2026.
Dr. Craig Veatch
Favorite Thing: Sauna
Why: Dr. Veatch recommends regular sauna use for its mental and physical health benefits—including cardiovascular risk reduction and better sleep. He loves how accessible and versatile it is for relaxation and recovery. He suggests you make a spa day, utilize your gym, visit a contrast therapy studio, or invest in a home setup.
Dr. Matthew Priddy
Favorite Things: Peloton App
Why: Dr. Priddy uses the Peloton App and equipment daily— including the bike, treadmill, rowing machine, and strength/stretching classes. He especially loves the flexibility of having guided workouts available while traveling.
Dr. Chad O’Nan
Favorite Thing: LUMEN Metabolism Tracker
Why: While exploring sleep trackers, Dr. Onan found that many lacked transparency. He prefers LUMEN, which measures CO₂ levels in your breath to recommend the best type of exercise (fat burn vs. cardio). It’s helped him better understand how his body uses food and fuel—and it’s more affordable than many high-end trackers.
Dr. Samantha Bouchie
Favorite Thing: Deep Tissue Massage
Why: As a long-distance runner, Dr. Bouchie relies on monthly deep tissue massages to aid recovery and keep her muscles in peak condition.
Dr. Erin McDonald
Favorite Thing: Kindle E-reader
Why: One of Dr. McDonald’s favorite winter rituals is curling up with a blanket and her Kindle. It’s light, portable, perfect for travel, and makes books easy to access. Reading in bed or on the road has never been easier or more enjoyable.
Dr. Jake Brandon
Favorite Thing: Theragun
Why: Dr. Brandon uses his Theragun after long clinic days and workouts. It’s simple, portable, and highly effective in loosening tight muscles—no complicated setup required. He frequently recommends it to patients for its practicality and results.
Dr. Matthew Keenan
Favorite Thing: Adjustable Dumbbells
Why: Dr. Keenan uses a compact set of adjustable dumbbells that replaces an entire rack of weights. They allow for effective strength training at home without the clutter—ideal for squeezing in workouts between family life.
Dr. Derrick Williams
Favorite Thing: Kettlebell
Why: Dr. Williams loves how one kettlebell can offer full-body workouts, combining strength and cardio. With just a few movements, he can target every muscle group—perfect for quick, efficient training.
Dr. Amanda Morris
Favorite Thing: Pvolve Functional Fitness
Why: Dr. Morris has used Pvolve for over 8 years to maintain mobility, strength, and balance. She loves the platform’s evidence-based approach and wide variety of programs (including for lower back pain, menopause, and postpartum). Live Zoom sessions keep her connected and motivated—it remains her most effective fitness tool.
Dr. Jon Schmidt
Favorite Things: Peloton & Protein Balls
Why: Dr. Schmidt enjoys the structure and variety of Peloton workouts, especially the way it removes the guesswork—he just wakes up and gets moving. He also makes protein balls with his kids: a fun, healthy, protein-packed snack that’s easy to make and always a hit at home. Dr. Schmidt also highly recommends his book!
Dr. Sarah MacGregor
Favorite Thing: Foam Roller
Why: Dr. MacGregor swears by a simple foam roller to reduce soreness and accelerate recovery after workouts. It’s inexpensive, effective, and proves that sometimes the basics work best.
Dr. Ashley Williams
Favorite Thing: Manta Sleep Mask
Why: Dr. Williams uses this every night to block out light and fall asleep quickly. She loves the gentle, weighted pressure and the scoop design that avoids putting pressure on her eyes or lashes. It’s also a must-have on long flights.
Dr. Stephanie Kinnaman
Favorite Thing: Smart Watch
Why: Dr. Kinnaman enjoys using her Apple Watch to track daily steps and sleep. Her kids love their Garmins for the same reason, making movement a fun, motivating goal for the whole family.
🎶 These Are a Few of Our Favorite Things (Priority Physicians Edition)
To the tune of “My Favorite Things”
Saunas and Theraguns, foam rollers rolling,
Protein balls made while the hot chocolate is boiling,
Peloton classes that make our hearts sing—
These are a few of our favorite things.
Kettlebells swinging and Kindle books waiting,
Rowers and stretch bands for strength cultivating,
Sleep masks that block out the light with soft wings—
These are a few of our favorite things.
Dumbbells that click into just the right setting,
Deep tissue massages when sore spots need petting,
LUMEN for knowing when fat burn begins—
These are a few of our favorite things.
Pvolve for movement that’s mindful and strong,
Live Zoom with trainers who help us along,
Back pain relieved with a pre-hab routine—
The years keep on adding, but it keeps us so lean (and strong!)
Apple Watch ticking and steps that we’re logging,
Garmin is another option for when sneakers are jogging,
Tracking our sleep and our fitness each day—
Helps keep “the lazies” and stress far away!
When the back aches,
When the sleep stings,
When we’re feeling blah—
We simply remember our docs’ favorite things,
And then we don’t feel so bad. 🎶
